Our Family Vacation to Grindstone Day 5

My apologies for the lateness of our big vacation finale.  Jason and I have been working EXTREMELY hard lately to finish up a bunch of tasks with deadlines.  We are thrilled to finally feel like we're catching up to the present.

Moving on...

Thursday, was the last full day of our vacation before packing, cleaning, and moving everything to the mainland etc.  And I've gotta say, it was an amazing day!  After breakfast the kiddos did their morning work, got dressed etc.  Lunch was served.  The kiddos played outside a little bit.  Then grandpa came over to take the boys fishing!  I stayed behind with the girls.

The boys and Jason were gone for about 2 1/2 hours.  During that time I had the girls lay down for a nap.  Princess had a low grade fever from her ear infection and could use the rest.  Sunshine can always benefit from a nap.  Once they fell asleep, I had two complete hours all to myself.  It was BLISS!   I spent the time preparing the night's dinner, reading etc.  Did I mention I was able to read an entire book for fun in two days while on vacation?  It has been years since I did that.  The time to myself was perfect and so needed!
The house was so quiet. I could hear the water lapping against the rocks outside and the birds singing.
Eventually the boys did come home and were THRILLED to have caught some fish.  Both boys caught a couple bullheads and a few sunfish.  Dinomite pulled in a bullhead all by himself!  Everyone had a great time.  It's amazing how much the boys have grown up over the last couple of years.  I still remember the first time Dinomite went fishing with his grandpa.  He threw the whole fishing pole into the river.  Lol.
Grandpa didn't stay long after the boys returned, as he needed to head back to the mainland to pick up everyone who was coming over for dinner.  He asked if Dinomite could go with him.  Since Dinomite and Bulldozer are a package deal, Grandpa took both boys back with him, while the rest of us stayed on the island.

At about six o'clock the whole crew arrived.  The boys, grandpa, grandma, my two sisters, and their children all joined us for dinner, dessert and fun on the island.  It was a little disappointing that it was so cold, but that didn't stop the fun.
It was super fun to have my Uncle Stub stop by as well, as he was already on the island!

The kiddos played. We had Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner and an Oreo cookie buffet with milk for dessert.  Everyone had fun.
We even managed to get a picture of all the kiddos together.  Other than Bulldozer who decided he wasn't going to smile, I'd say the picture turned out quite well with that many little ones involved.  Lol.

Even today still, the kiddos wish they were back on the island. It was such a great vacation!  Hopefully we'll be able to return soon!
