Phonogram, Digraph, and Blending Sounds Activity Ideas and Free Printables

One of our goals for the year is to teach the kiddos their phonograms.

We've done some work with them in the past, but definitely not enough.

Here are some phonogram, digraph, and blending sounds activity ideas I found and love, to help the kiddos.

I've also included some of our phonogram activities from the past that the kiddos have really enjoyed!

It's my hope that you also find these ideas inspiring and helpful.

Free Shark Printables: SH Do-a-dot Page

Free Shark Printables and Montessori Inspired Shark Activities from Living Montessori Now

This post includes includes a simple dot page activity for the sound "sh." I love introducing phonograms this way as the sound is completely isolated.

For kids who don't like writing activities, a do-a-dot page provides opportunity to use manipulatives and practice fine motor skills.

All of this can be so helpful to children.

Phonogram Sentences

Phonogram Sentences from Trillium Montessori

I am a huge fan of picture and word matching activities.

These phonogram sentence challenges take things to the next level encouraging children to read sentences.

Phonograms are highlighted in red in each sentence to help children remember and focus.

Digraph Play Dough Mats

Digraph Playdough Mats from 3 Dinosaurs

I just love these diagraph playdough mats!

Again, I am such a huge fan of adding fun manipulatives to activities that encourage fine motor development.

Playdough is so fun to use in the classroom, especially when you add scents to enhance the sensory experience.

What a fun way to practice and learn digraphs.

Phonogram Box

Phonogram Box from To the Lesson!

There's just something about the moveable alphabet that invites so much learning.

In this activity children practice phonograms one at a time using the moveable alphabet to spell out words.

The sky is the limit when using the moveable alphabet for phonograms!

Swatting Phonograms

Swatting Phonograms from All About Learning Press

This is such an adorable activity when practicing phonograms, especially for kids who enjoy moving their bodies while learning.

Since sharing this post, this printable has been updated and includes cute little bugs with phonograms on them.

Phonogram Connect Four
