Montessori-inspired Blue Series Activities with FREE Printables
In the Montessori world, depending on your training intermediate language or blue series represent activities focusing on short vowel words with consonant blends.
Here we share several activities like this that we've been having fun with!
Blue Series Picture and Word Match Up
The kiddos matched up the word strips with picture cards. I wrote all words in cursive, as the kiddos have been working on writing and reading cursive this year. Words were written in print on the back of the cards for whomever needed it.

My Book of Blue Series Words
There's just something about creating a book that's so appealing to some of the kiddos. In this book the kiddos write the blue series words that match the picture on each page. A book with all answers written in is provided as a control.

Blue Series Object Spelling with Moveable Alphabet
The kiddos love using our Montessori Cursive Moveable Alphabet, especially when spelling the names of objects. I can't say enough about how much manipulatives improve the learning experience! The objects used for this activity come from various Safari Ltd. Toobs that we own.
Fill in the Missing Letter(s) in Blue Series Words
There are so many ways to practice spelling blue series words. This happens to be Dinomite's favorite. He completed at least one of these cards every day and was so confident in his answers. He knew he didn't even need to use the controls.
I can't get over how much his confidence in his own spelling abilities has soared. It's so amazing to see. Cards in this activity have beginning letter, middle letter, and ending letters missing.

Picture and Phrase Match Up with Grammar Symbol Variation
Learning to read phrases can be so much fun, especially when matching up pictures is involved. If you're like my kiddos and prefer an added challenge, don't hesitate to throw in grammar symbols to practice nouns, verbs, adjectives, and articles!

Blue Series Picture and Sentence Match Up
Now that we've progressed through the pink series and have more words to work with, we decided to add a sentence and picture match up activity. The kiddos had a lot of fun with it. I was thrilled they didn't find it too difficult.
